AYTI001

Introduction & Auto Shop
Safety

Students will identify general shop safety rules and procedures, proper use and procedures for safe lift operation, shop equipment, cleaning equipment, and methods. This course is also meant to help students identify sources of service information, appropriate clothing for lab/shop activities and standard, SAE, and metric designations. Location of MSDS sheets is also discussed.

5-days per week: 25 hours per week; 25hrs-lab & 25hrs-theory for a total of 50 hours

AYTI002

Engine Repair

This course will teach students how to inspect engine assemblies for fuel, oil, coolant and other leaks to determine the necessary action. We will also cover how to test the coolant; drain and recover the coolant; flush and refill the cooling system as well as replacing timing belts and head gaskets.

5-days per week; 25 hours per week; 90hrs-lab & 110hrs-theory for a total of 200hrs

Automatic/
Manual Transmission & Transaxle

This course will teach students clutch diagnosis and service. Manual transmission/transaxle overview. Automatic transmission/ transaxle diagnosis and repair. Driveline repair and service and front wheel drive service.

5-days per week; 25 hours per week; 100hrs-lab & 100hrs theory for a total of 200hrs

Suspension & Steering

Students will learn the function of each suspension system component. They will also learn how to identify steering problems by inspecting the condition of the steering system and perform two and four wheel alignments on a laser guided machine while making the necessary adjustments.

5-days per week; 25 hours per week; 50hrs-lab & 50hrs-theory for a total of 100hrs

Brakes

This course will teach students how to diagnose Antilock Brake Systems (ABS) and Traction Stability Control Systems. They will learn how to replace and refinish brakes and rotors and drums as well as bleed and inspect complete brake systems.

5-days per week; 25 hours per week; 50hrs-lab & 50hrs-theory for a total of 100hrs

AYTI006

Electrical/Electronic Systems

This course is designed to teach basic electrical/electronic systems theory and repairs. Automotive Charging Systems, Ignition Systems, Lighting and Wiring Diagrams and troubleshooting electrical problems and cover Ohms Law.

5-days per week; 25hours per week; 110hrs-lab & 115hrs-theory for a total of 225hrs

AYTI007

Heating & Air Conditioning

Upon completion of this course the student will have a full understanding of the HVAC system its function sensors, actuators and computer memory. They will also know how to test, inspect, service and replace any part within the system

AYTI008

Engine Performance

This course will teach students how to diagnose the cause of the vehicles problem before performing a repair. Students will learn engine removal and disassembly, engine diagnosis: cylinder head and valve train, engine diagnosis: Block, crankshaft, bearings and lubrication systems and piston, piston rings, connecting rods and engine balancing. They will also use diagnostic equipment to access the vehicles computer and monitor the status to help diagnose problem areas.

5-days per week; 25hours per week; 110hrs-lab & 115hrs-theory for a total of 225hrs

AYTI009

Hybrid Drive System Operation and Repair (Intro)

This course teaches students to identify the major parts of a hybrid drive system and the most common problems that occur in a hybrid vehicle drive system. Students will understand how to explain the construction and operation of hybrid drive assemblies and use the on board diagnostics to find the source of problems in hybrid vehicle propulsion systems

5-days per week; 25hours per week; 20hrs-lab & 30hrs-theory for a total of 50hrs

 

All the above classes have been designed to prepare students to be marketable prospects in the automotive repair and maintenance industry and to help prepare them for national certification through ASE with the exception of the Introduction to Hybrid class.
